Abstract

In the first part of this article the authors analyse the legal status of the ports as maritime domain in the Republic of Croatia. In the second part, authors spell out about Sea Port Act of 1995 with special review at the seaports open to public traffic Rijeka and Split. They point out a new concept of separation of functions in the port, the role of Port Authority, transition of social ownership, special regime of concession for port activities and status of port assets (movables .and immovables). Finally, in the third part the legal status of the Croatian seaports open to public traffic is compared with Slovenian law (port of Koper) and Italian law (port of
Trieste).
