Legal status of offshore mobile craft used for exploration of oil and gas from the seabed and its subsoil in Yugoslav and comparative maritime law

Abstract
Although offshore mobile craft in certain aspects resemble ships, specific characteristics of these craft, in regard to physical features and their purpose, do not allow complete legal equalization of the two categories.
After having considered the legal status of offshore mobile craft used for exploration and exploitation of the seabed and its subsoil in Yugoslav and comparative maritime law, the author examines the applicability of the traditional maritime aspects to offshore mobile craft and proposes modifications of some maritime rules in respect of these craft and elaboration of new rules where ''classical'' maritime concepts are not adequate.
