Abstract

Investigations into drawbar pull characteristics of a 4WD tractor (engine power 26.0 kW) equipped with new and semi-worn tyres 7.50 – 16 6 PLY produced by two different producers were carried out in ploughing and seed bed preparation of loamy soil. Maximal drawbar power in ploughing (10.74 kW) the tractor achieved with new tyres at working speed of 1.5 m/s, with tractor efficiency of 0.413. The tractor with semi-worn tyres in ploughing achieved maximal drawbar pull 20.1% and average drawbar pull 18.0% less in comparison with new tyres, while specific fuel consumption at maximal drawbar power was 14.9% and average specific fuel consumption was 9.4% higher. Maximal drawbar power in seed bed preparation (11.07 kW) tractor achieved with new tyres at working speed of 3.0 m/s, with tractor efficiency of 0.426. In seed bed preparation the tractor with semi-worn tyres achieved maximal drawbar pull 15.9% and average drawbar pull 18.4% less in comparison with new tyres, while specific fuel consumption at maximal drawbar power was 8.2% and average specific fuel consumption was 13.6% higher.
