Abstract

Knowing honey-rich plants, and their habitats, is of great importance to bee-keepers to improve bee-pastures. The paper contains 275 species of honey-rich plants which can be found in Croatia in some of the habitats, and which have been marked in the literature as the most honey-rich. The plants have been sorted into 59 families, of which the most numerous are Lamiaceae with 46 species, Fabaceae with 32 species and Rosaceae with 27 species, followed by Asteraceae with 26 species, Brassicaceae with 14 species and Boraginaceae and Scrophulariaceae with 8 species. Increasing the knowledge of bee-keepers on the autochthonous honey-rich plants is just one of the factors which should contribute to the improvement of bee pastures.
