Abstract

The aim of the paper was to describe the position of certain phonemes within the phonological system of the Ruthenian language, using the opposition method, and to determine their respective distinctive features. The paper compared
the phonological and the phonetic systems and discussed various doubts and inconsistencies plaguing previous descriptions.
The paper is a part of an unpublished graduation thesis, defended at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zagreb, Department of Phonetics, on June 30, 1992.
