Abstract

The book is divided into two thematic units: maritime law and the law of inland navigation. The thematic unit dealing with maritime law is itself divided into two parts. The first part consists of Introduction, Maritime space and sea-bed of the Republic of Croatia and Maritime administrative law - safe navigation. The second part deals
with maritime property and commercial law. The law concerning inland navigation is dealt with in separate chapters in so far as it differs from the provisions of Croatian maritime law. That approach is correct because the regulations in both branches of shipping are the same so that the rules of maritime law, mutatis mutandis, are also valid for inland navigation and shipping. The book represents a comparative analysis of particular institutions of Croatian maritime law and inland navigation law with special reference to international relations and to the significance of numerous international conventions regulating the relationship between the two types of navigation and shipping. The book includes particular chapters dealing with the proposed amendments to the Croatian Maritime Code. ''The Republic of Croatia's Law of Shipping'' will serve as a university textbook as well as a useful book of reference for theoreticians and practitioners of shipping law.
