Abstract

The book Mursa - Colonia Aelia at the Limes of the Roman Empire, written by Emilio Marin, contains stories about the geographical context and cultural landscape before Mursa, about the Roman city, Roman gods, Christianity in ancient Roman period, battles for the Roman empire in the wider area of Mursa, its inhabitants, Mursa in the context of the Roman cities and camps in the area between the Italian Peninsula and the Danube, the decay of Mursa, and Mursa nowadays. A special characteristic of the book is its multi-disciplinary perspective. It explores the topic from the perspective of social sciences, natural sciences, visual arts and literature. Since the available data and the historical documents about Mursa are sparse with too few physical remains, writing a book like this requires remarkable skill and great expertise.
