Abstract
‘’Current Issues in Freight Forwarding: Law and Logistics’’ is the final result of two successful international conferences dedicated to the topic of logistics and freight forwarding, organised in Edinburgh and Antwerp in 2015 and 2016 respectively. The book is divided into 18 chapters (including an introductory chapter), written by a number of leading authors from different countries. They deal with various legal topics related to the rights and liabilities of freight forwarders in modern international transport. The authors have taken a comparative approach in examining this complex legal subject. Important sources of international, EU and national law (including so-called ‘’soft-law’’) regulating freight forwarding are examined in detail. The book also contains fourteen appendices – international agreements, EU documentation and the standardised documents most often used in international transport and freight forwarding, as well as the terms and conditions adopted by (selected) national freight forwarding associations. As Lord Glennie says at the end of his foreword, this is a book from which both lawyers and businessmen involved in the business of international sale and carriage will benefit. It deserves to be wholeheartedly recommended.
