Abstract

Some of the basic drawbacks of scientific education are difficulties in learning the scientific content, the dishonest and mythical image of science and scientists, the insufficient level of integration of the technological and social aspects of science into the scientific curriculum and the principled, but not real implementation of up-to date methods in science teaching. The results are a low interest in science, the inapplicability of scientific knowledge in everyday life and the insufficient scientific literacy. The author of this study puts the STS paradigm (science-technology-society) as one of the possible alternatives to such scientific education. In this work, the STS paradigm is shown through four aspects of the curriculum: function, content, structure and sequence.
