The aim of this study was to determine the level of theoretical knowledge on household waste disposal and the application of environmental principles in everyday life of junior primary school students in the City of Zagreb. The research was carried out within the Educational Workshops "Let's meet the domestic animals" at the Grassland Research Center of the University of Zagreb Faculty of Agriculture during the school year 2017/18. The survey involved a total of 497 junior primary school students, out of which 241 girls and 256 boys. The results show the junior primary school students in the City of Zagreb have a high level of knowledge in a household waste disposal. They also have good living habits in terms of hausehold waste management and potential contribution towards environmental conservation. To accept the classification and recycling of household and industrial waste, continuous at home and at school education and training is required at all the levels of education.
