Abstract

On the sample of 188 girls, 17 years ± 6 months old, 35 anthropometric variables were measured. On the basis of their intercorrelations the factor structure of anthropometric dimensions was analysed using the direct oblimin method. The existence of six latent dimensions was determined; six latent dimensions was determined; latent dimensions being responsible for:
1. body volume and subcutaneous fat quantity
2. longitudinal skeletal measures
3. head and face measures
4. joint, hand and foot measures
5. transversal skeletal measures
6. chest measures.
It should ne pointed out that the hypothetical model considered of only four latent dimensions and that the interpretation of the rasnversal skeletal dimensions was not only founded. The same phenomenon was observed in other studies as well.
It seem that more dimensions than exist in the hypothetical model were extracted due to variability reduction in the majority of antropometric dimensions of young girls in Vojvodina is recommended.
