Abstract

Tall grasses seed production has not been sufficient for years in Croatia and that is the reason why import of thet seed is so high (almost 95% including srass and clover seed), although we have very good agro ecological conditions for that production. This statement could be supported by the research conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture University of Zagreb.
Obtained results varied from years, cultivars and climatic conditions, but the average in 3 yares seed production was: 777 kg/ha whit Orchardgrass (5 cultivars), 691 kg/ha whit Meadow fescue (4 cultivars), 927 kg/ha whit Tall fescue, 426 kg/ha whit Timothy (4 cultivars).
The average staw yield after seed harvesting was 6,5 t/ha whit Orchardgrass, 6,5 t/ha whit Meadow fescue, 10,2 t/ha whit Tall fescue and 7,7 t/ha whit Timothy.
