Abstract
The data were collected on the sample of 693 males, 19-27 years odl, using Eysneck's MPI and six tapping tests for assessing the speed of alternative movements. The results are in concordance neither with the cortical inhibition theory nor with the cortical excitation theory, both trying to explain the physiological basis of extraversion. It is hypothesised that extrovert - introvert patterns of behavior, which correlate with motoric variables, are influenced more by control mechanisms regulating excitation and inhibition processes than by the general intensity level of these processes.
