Abstract

As the global market is growing, producers are facing ever-increasing challenges. Survival in the market environment with large number of competitors requires adjustment, but also monitoring new technologies. Blockchain technology enables development of a system that can meet the needs of today’s markets. The aim of the paper is to analyse the possibilities of applying blockchain technology in agriculture and to propose the use of blockchain technology in agriculture of the Republic of Croatia. Possible segments of blockchain application in agriculture of the Republic of Croatia is through disbursement of state aid, through signing cooperative agreements with purchasers, implementation of smart contracts, and in usage of new devices and sensors such as IoT devices.
