Abstract

The additional rescue archaeological excavations of the AN 6 Petrijevci – Karaševo 2 site, on the route of D34 state road bypassing Petrijevci, uncovered the remains of archaeological structures located on two gentle elevations next to a place where a small stream used to run. Post-holes and pits were found in the eastern part of the site; the humus layer contained fragments of medieval pottery, indicating that the excavations comprised the southern edge of the settlement standing in the eastern part of today’s Petrijevci. The excavations in the western part of the site uncovered few ceramic fragments of prehistoric pottery, which probably belong to the settlement that stood to the south of the route of the future Petrijevci bypass road.
