Abstract

The metrical characteristics of 11 assessment instruments for the estimation of hypothetical balance factor being calculated, and their factor structure being determined, it is possible to conclude that metrical characteristics of almost all of 11 assessment instruments are relatively good.
It was found out that practically all items of every single assessment instrument belong to one common assessment subject, interpreted as the ability to maintain the balance position with the exclusive aid of the vestibular apparatus and kinesthetic receptors (in the absence of the visual analysor information), were isolated in the factor space.
It is proposed, according to the determined metrical characteristics and factor structure of assessment instruments, to retain the tests MSUO, MS2O, MSO1 and MSO2 for the estimation of factor of balance with open eyes and MSV1, MSV2, MS2V and MSVL tests are suggested for the estimation of factor of balance with closed eyes.
