Abstract

The sample of 2020 male subjects, divided into 10 sub-samples of 202 subjects aged 12 to 21, was analyzed for changes of specific variance of at tissue in relation to age. The specific variance was estimated under the factor model which contained, as latent dimensions, the longitudinal and transverse dimensionality of skeleton, body volume and body mass, fat tissue. These were isolated on the basis of 45 anthropometric variables; among them were 9 measures of skin folds. It was found that specific variance of fat tissue increase in relation to age, in accordance with the polynomial of the third order, with the inflection points at ages 14 and 19. A significant aberration from this function was found at the age 16. Results were interpreted as effects of the law of differentiation and as a consequence of inertial effects of onset and termination of the period of intense sexual maturation.
