Abstract

A sample of 23 female subjects aged 15 (± 1 month) was measured for 12 anthropometric variables, 9 physiological variables in state of rest and 8 physiological variables on the test of maximum oxygen intake performed on the treadmill, whereby direct method was applied. Measurements were repeated when the subjects reached the age of 16, 17 and 18. The study was carried out from the school year 1979/80 to 1982/83. Basic statistical parameters and differences of arithmetic means were calculated between individual measurements, while significance was established by means of a t-test.
The indicators of morphological values show that girls of that age are still somewhat growing bit growth is completed by 17. Measures of diameter behave very much in the same way as the measures of height. Only the measures of subcutaneous fat tissue do not show significant changes in the period observed.
The maximum oxygen intake shows, contrary to findings up to date, a continuous increasing trend. The value of the relative maximum capacity of 40.4 cm3 achieved by 18-year old is, in any case, satisfactory.
