Abstract
A sample of 12 top-level basketball players served to carry out the analysis of quantitative changes under the model of differences, using algorithm contained in SSDIF program (Momirović, 1980) with the aim to establish the differences between three measurements in 6 specific basketball variables.
The measurements were taken at the beginning of preparation period, in the middle of preparation period at the beginning of competition period.
The first conclusion of this investigation is that training carried out between the first and the second measurements did not achieve significant effects because the volume of training did not allow development of immediate effects into cumulative ones.
The second conclusion is that statistically significant difference was obtained between initial and final state for all basketball variables. This proves that training during pre-competition and part of the competition mesocycle was appropriate to the aim, i.e. to the desire to achieve transformational effects in variables that cover those dimensions upon which depends the total efficiency of the players. This means that in the last 29 days of training, significant cumulative effects were secured which then developed into an optimal fitness during the competition period.
