Abstract

The sacral architecture of the Catholic Church has been severely exposed to harsh
and repeated damages during the Homeland war in Croatia, especially on the
occupied areas of The Republic of Croatia. The sacral architecture in Lika region,
that is the one on the area of Gospić-Senj Diocese - according to nowadays territorial and administrative structure of the Catholic Church in Croatia - was also
severely damaged during the Greater-Serbian Agression, what is evident from
the great number of more or less damaged sacral structures. This paper brings an
overview of damages of sacral architecture of the Catholic Church in Lika region,
as well as the data regarding the time, the methods and the extent of war damages
of sacral buildings and monuments.
