Abstract

Social networks such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and others are packed with information that can be helpful when making a hiring decision. Employers use social networks as a useful tool to help them gather additional information about a candidate who is applying for a job, without requiring additional costs or interacting with the candidate themselves. At the same time, employers are using social networks to advertise job vacancies and to reach a quality workforce faster than their competitors. Whether social networks are used to support the traditional recruitment method or primarily to attract candidates, they are a valuable tool in the recruitment process. In order to study the impact of social networks on the employment process among employers in the Republic of Croatia, a survey was conducted on the use of social networks for employment purposes. The survey results show that the size of the employer and the problems with finding a quality workforce do not affect their views on the use of social networks for employment purposes.
