Abstract

With development of mobile communication networks, many business processes and everyday life experience have been improved. Many companies invest large amounts of money in IT systems to improve business processes, increase efficiency and reduce costs. In such system improvement processes, the concept of Internet of Things is inevitable. So far, through its development stages, the 4G mobile network has been adapting to the use cases of the Internet of Things. However, current 4G technology is unable to meet the emerging requirements that are being placed. With the introduction of the new 5G mobile network, it will be possible to realize future applications and meet the growing requirements of the Internet of Things. The aim of this paper is to describe how the Internet of Things works, show some of its applications, see how the 5th generation of mobile networks is influencing development of the IoT, and to present some of the challenges of 5G networks.
