ONE HISTORCAL SOURCE ON CREATION OF ILLYRISM: „HOW ILLYRISM CAME TO EXISTANCE“

Abstract

This paper presents a historical source, i.e. the work of Antun Vakanović „How did Illyrianism originate?“ (1832) about the beginnings of Illyrianism in Zagreb, i.e., Croatia. That year, a group of young people around Ljudevit Gaj began to think about the space that encompasses the „Illyrian people“ and what mechanisms should be used to awaken that people from political and cultural apathy.
