Abstract

On the sample of 101 physical education students of the University of Zagreb, in the school years 1969/70 and 1971/72, canonical relations between manifest cognitive variables (SVPN+1 battery) and manifest variables for measuring pathological factors of anxiety, inhibitory conversion, aggression and schizoid tendencies (from Momirović 18PF battery) were determined.
Statistically significant and negative correlations between symbolic reasoning and all four pathological conative factors were found.
The first canonical root was not very big (0.44), but it was significant at 0.05 level.
On the basis of canonical coefficients of cognitive ans conative variables it could be concluded that students achieved good results in numerical and spatial test, and poor results in verbal definitions of words and geometric absurdness tests that they were more anxious and aggressive and less schizoid and conversive.
