Abstract

The motor characteristics of first-form pupils have been analyzed on a sample of 314 boys and 301 girls on the basis of 12 motor tests. The analysis of variance has shown a significant difference between boys and girls, particulary with regard to variables for evaluating the intensity of energy mobilization and coordination (cortical regulation of movement). The boys have shown greater aerobic endurance while girls greater flexibility.
The factor analysis of motorics among boys has singled out the following factors: a factor of general motor ability, defined, in the first place, by the energy component and, in the second place, by the movement structure component; a factor of movement frequency (the general factor of speed), a factor of aerobic endurance and a factor of tonus and synergy regulation.
The factor analysis of motorics among girls has shown dimensions which can be defined as: a factor of general motor ability based, in the first place, on relative strength and, in the second, on the movement structure; a factor of movement frequency (psychomotoric speed); a factor of flexibility and a factor of balance.
