Abstract

Twenty one instruments for assessment of the entire flexibility space were used on a sample of 180 students of the Faculty for Physical Culture in Ljubljana. The battery of measuring instruments was constructed to include the following hypothetical flexibility spaces: the flexibility of arms and shoulder region (test marked MGR), the flexibility of the trunk (tests marked MGT) and the flexibility of legs and pelvic region (tests marked MGN).
In order to reveal the basic metric characteristic of multi-item measuring instruments the algorythm RTT MARK FFK was used. Along with the classic reliability measures (Spearman-Brown), the algorythm includes modern procedures such as computation of representability, generalizability and homogenity of composite tests as well as other reliability measures.
The results of this study have shown that most of the applied measuring instruments, in spite of a very rigorous assessment criterion, may be considered as very good. For each hypothetical flexibility space there are some tests with somewhat poorer characteristics but they can nevertheless be considered as solid measuring instruments,
