Abstract

Damage to grapevines is caused by mites from two important families, spider mites and eriophyid mites. The mites are active throughout the vegetation and cause various deformities to the buds, leaves and shoots of the vine by sucking plant juices. The consequences of mite feeding are also visible on grape berries, which lose their quality due to weaker accumulation of nutrients. The paper gives an overview of harmful mite species in grape cultivation in Croatia, with special reference to symptoms of infestation, prognosis of occurrence and possibility of control.

Keywords
