Abstract

It is well known to researchers that the number and latent structure of motor dimensions depend on the composition of the test battery used in data collection as well as the fashion in which the samples are selected. The investigation (Viskić-Šalec, 1987) had proved the interdependence between results and the applied technique of factor analysis: model, initial variable metric, extraction criteria and transformation procedure.
The sample of 693 entities was taken form a male unselected population aged 19-27 and was subjected to 74 motor composite measuring instruments. The results were factorized with 18 different factor solutions. Within the component model, the real, image, standardized image and universal metrics were applied. In the factor model, the reduced correlation matrix with the iteratively determined communalities. The basic solutions the component model were transformed with the standard orthoblique, oblimin and promax procedure, and the solutions in the factor model were transformed with a modified orthoblique, oblimin and poma procedure through standardized factor valued. The factor scores, obtained from 18 final solutions were again factorized by component model with orthoblique transformation, and the number of components was determined by the standard GK criterion.
The results all factor solutions confirm a sure existence of eight motor dimensions, the ninth needs to be checked by further research and the tenth was not possible to identify. The following dimension were identified: efficiency in performance of coordinated movements, flexibility, speed of simple movements, flexibility of butt, balance, imitation of rythm by movement, locomotion, dexterity in handling objects and precision.
