Abstract

The demand for a high level of thermal protection in buildings requires a special approach to the construction of thermal protection details on thermal bridges on the building exterior. The author defines basic types of thermal bridges observed in analyses of heat loss transmission, and analyses individual types from the aspect of physical effect. She establishes factors that determine internal surface temperatures, and the reasons for pronounced surface temperature decrease at critical points. She analyses specific cases of structural bindings and their surface temperatures. She gives the consequences of extremely low surface temperatures, and what can be done to prevent them.
