Abstract

At the beginning of the 20th cetury we had more intesive investigations of human creativity. Today there are many definitions of creativity that show how unclear this notion is. There are four categories of creativity – a creative person, a creative product, the creative process, and creative circumstances. Further subclassifications can be made into potential and actual creativity, and primary and secondary creativity. Creativity is especially important in education. Class atmosphere and children's play are very important for their creative developement. Teachers also plays an important role, as their creativity keeps them motivated for their job, and may stimulate the development of students' creativity. Therefore it is important to train future teachers to develop their own creative potential. Learning communities are particular suitable for this purpose in permanent teacher education.
