Kralj Tomislav Garden in Osijek

Abstract

The author analyzes the development of Kralj Tomislav Garden in Osijek on the basis of old maps and plans, with a special survey of the historical and spatial development of Osijek in the area between Tvrđa Fortress and Gornji grad.
He presents new data about the development of that typical military garden and a new theory about its origin. It was not laid out as an integral garden and comprehensively designed, as had been thought, but grew out of three completely different gardens that were successively joined into the Regimental Garden.
