Abstract

In purpose of finding an optimal crop density for four cultivars of soybean: Aura, Ronda, Gordana and Dora on field of Agricultural Faculty, University of Zagreb an experiment were conducted. A randomized complete block design with four replications was used. The traits included in the analysis were the following: plant height, height of the first pod-bearing node, number of nodes, number of branches, number of pods, number of seeds, number of seeds per pod, seed weight per plant and 1000-seed weight. On the basis of the results of effect of three different crop density (40, 60 and 80 plants/ m2) on yield and yield components we found out that crop density was not significant as source of variability for analysed traits. Interaction cultivar x crop density was significant as source of variability for traits: plant height, seed weight per plant and 1000-seed weight. For traits height of the first pod-bearing node number of nodes, number of branches, number of pods and number of seeds the interaction was not significant. Yields achieved in crop density of 60 and 80 plants per m2 differed significantly from one in crop density of 40 plants per m2.
