Abstract

In the summer semester of the academic year 2019/20 the Police College, along with other institutions of higher education in Croatia, transferred its courses to the online platform for both, full-time and part-time students as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic situation. Online communication has been present at the Police College even before the outbreak, but in a limited form, designed to complement traditional teaching methods. The present situation demanded an immediate response from the teaching staff, college employees and students to adjust to technical and communication challenges. By the end of the summer semester a questionnaire for all students, who participated in e-learning, was created with the aim to improve online education and the communication between students and teachers and to correct possible shortcomings. The questionnaire covered all aspects of online education with a particular focus on satisfaction with teacher-student interaction, assessment of usefulness and availability of information and teaching resources uploaded in different formats on the e-learning platform, assessment of the quality of different communication channels and the identification of strengths and weaknesses of online education.
