Abstract
Health and education crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic affected the organization and performance of teaching in higher education and its change from a form of direct teaching to distance learning. This exceptional situation has put a lot of pressure on all stakeholders in the education system, especially students. The Faculty of Teacher Education of the University of Zagreb, during the health crisis, carried out its teaching activities at a distance through LMS. In order to determine the quality of distance learning during June 2020, a survey of student satisfaction with various aspects of the teaching process was conducted. 314 full-time and part-time students at the Faculty participated in the research. Student satisfaction was examined in four segments; organization and performance of teaching, quality of teaching content, evaluation and feedback, and support and availability of information. And while the results of the research indicate that students are more satisfied with online teaching, differences were found in the assessment of satisfaction with regard to their status (full-time and part-time students). Namely, part-time students are significantly more satisfied with the level of workload (p =, 019), the availability of materials (p =, 016) and the feedback they receive from the professor (p =, 027). The results also indicate the need for additional teacher education, but also a more detailed insight into student characteristics and predisposition for successful online teaching. Certainly, when planning further online teaching activities, it is necessary to take into account the different needs of students with regard to their status and obligations, but also the existing digital divide.
