Abstract

This article investigates the relationship of modern thought and instruction in children's literature. It has been placed in literary-historical and stylistic relations. The former is exemplified by the work of Ivana Brlić Mažuranić, Mato Lovrak, Ivan Kušan, Milivoj Matošec and Grigor Vitez and the latter by five hierarchically systematized relations: through explicit message of the author, through characters in the literary work, the choice of themes, the
organization of the plot and through the agreement of stylistic game and instruction, which is the highest level of agreement and the least divergent. A fine example of this is the poetry of Zvonimir Balog.
