Abstract

With the signing of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, Croatia made an enormous step toward the European Union. The purpose of the article is to give a critical assessment of the consequences to be expected for the Croatian economy. We conclude
that although there are considerable adjustment costs, the positive long term effects should prevail.
