Abstract

Depending on the goals of treatment, Kinesio Tapes are used as one of the safe physiotherapeutic procedures in the treatment of pain, edema, hematomas, injuries of soft tissue structures, functional instability of the bone-ligament system and the correction of alignments. The aim of this paper is to present the ways and possibilities of applying Kinesio Tapes and the effects they have on the musculoskeletal system by reviewing the relevant literature. There is a lack of well-designed clinical studies that would prove the effectiveness of Kinesio Tapes over a long period of time in treatments of injuries, damages and diseases of the locomotor system. Despite the insufficient available scientific evidence, the use of Kinesio Tapes is a widespread and popular physiotherapeutic intervention, not only as means of treatment, but also as a means of prevention for sports injuries and damages.
