Abstract

Interpreting the Scriptures properly is both a privilege and a humbling responsibility. The special
focus of this article is to discover biblical and theological principles that relate to the place of
faith, reason, and influence of the Holy Spirit in the hermeneutical process. The following
approach rests upon the unity and clarity of the Scriptures as a whole and upon the concept that
the entire Bible is the prepositional, infallible Word of God. It assumes that what the text meant
originally is, in principle, what the text means for us today.
