Abstract

The Krk Philatelic Society is one of the oldest associations on the island of Krk. It has operated continually since 1951. On 7 February 1951, the founding assembly of the Krk Philatelic Branch was held. The Krk Philatelic Branch was the thirty-seventh branch of the Philatelic Federation of Croatia. At this assembly, the society’s administration was elected, and Emil Majarić, who also initiated its establishment, became its president, while Srećko Jurina was elected it secretary, and Hilarije Giorgolo was elected to the post of treasurer. The Society had twelve members. Since 2009, the Society’s president has been Damir Crnčić, while its secretary is Milan Radić. Over the past twelve years, the Society has issued 26 special wrappers and 8 maximum cards. Society members Ivan Martinaš and Damir Crnčić own philatelic exponents that are displayed at various international exhibitions, at which they have won many medals. As a part of its activities thus far, the Society has organized roughly 50 philatelic exhibitions, which were held in Krk, Punat, Baška, Malinska, Vrbnik, Šilo and Omišalj. It has issued 88 special wrappers and 9 maximum cards.
