Abstract

The author discusses the fragment of a single-section funerary stele kept in the Lapidarium of the Archaeological Museum Zadar. Although it does not contain any special features – even its inscription is not fully preserved – a detail of the inscription reveals an interesting fact that can be seen as solid evidence that legio IIII Flavia Felix was actually a reconstituted legio IIII Macedonica that had occupied the vacated encampment on the River Krka. The known facts about the founding of IIII Flavia Felix Legion and its deployment in Dalmatia are also discussed. An overview of the inscriptions containing the legion’s members from Dalmatian soil is also provided.
