DIDACTIC ANALYSIS IN THE FUNCTION OF DEVELOPING THE QUALITY OF TEACHING

Abstract

Teaching is a very complex and dynamic process which changes constantly. Each subsequent teaching unit, as well as new teaching processes as a whole, always constitute a different and new phenomenon. So, each time we teach, we additionally consolidate our
teaching process, we prepare for it, carefully follow its course and adjust it to the current circumstances. Didactic analysis plays an important role here. This is an activity which cuts across the teacher’s other tasks in all phases and stages of teaching, with the aim of
obtaining continuous insight into its didactic characteristics and values.
The essence of didactic analysis is the identification of the situation and didactic phenomena and the description of all major didactic theoretical perspectives. This demanding reflective activity is based on professional grounds, the theoretical didactic background of teaching. It is manifested as a formative analysis based on current
feedback on the current course of teaching and as a comprehensive analysis to provide a
profound explanation of the realised didactic units of teaching. The outcomes of didactic analysis bring about change, improvements in teaching, further development of teaching, and increased quality of education as a whole. To perform high-quality didactic analysis,
teachers and other professional pedagogic staff should develop special competences which include theoretical, broad didactic and methodological knowledge, sensitivity toward all phenomena in the educational process, and the ability and readiness to critically evaluate concrete practice. Through didactic analysis, teachers improve their knowledge of the teaching process, and by means of reflective learning they expand their theoretical didactic knowledge. The result is the development of a new quality in education.
