Abstract

It has been quite a long time since legendary Marshall McLuhan named the world "global village" in which nothing can happen without the whole world to know about it immediately, and that is thanks to the media. Globalization however brought along completely new conception of the world, not known in the McLuhan's age. Have the all-pervasive mass media globalized already existing global village? Modern information channels are becoming each day more and more powerful and thus by their mere presence they diminish possibilities to unify the image of the world according to some ideology or desire of certain centers of power. Even the globalization, in the worst meaning of the word, will not be able to overcome the voices that can be heard and are fruits of human mind, knowledge and skills. That is what gives faith in better media image of the world.
