Abstract

The enlargement of NATO and the EU casts a new light on the southeast of Europe, i.e. the so-called countries of the Western Balkans. For the time being, these five countries have been set aside and out of Euro-Atlantic integrations and it is obvious that they will have to put a lot of efforts in order not to stay on the margins of European processes. However, Europe disposes of various concrete means, such as the ESDI or propelling development and creating economic stabilization, on the strength of which it can also integrate this part of the European area and thus contribute to stabilizing conditions in the Western Balkans.
