Abstract

Media play very important role in achieving national minority rights. This bears special significance in the societies which have just started to adopt democratic standards. Democratization processes and the role of media in these processes are even more important for those societies which, after long period of exclusiveness and suppressing media freedoms and some basic principles of democracy, are faced now with new democratic challenges. Protection of national minority rights is one of the most important challenges for all the countries in Southeast Europe. National minorities as active participants in political processes in these countries are impelled to sensitize the public about their problems using various means. It inevitably includes cooperation with different media as well as establishment of the media of national minorities.
