Abstract

Defined in the paper are the terms such as hazard, incident, accident, near miss and Heinrich’s triangle. The most common and dangerous accident in interior transport is forklift tip-over with the operator working because it may result in serious injuries and even death. The paper focuses on the existence of the protection elements on forklifts and their proper functioning intended to prevent tipping over sideways. For this purpose, a descriptive checklist method was used. The study sample included 127 forklifts, average age about 15 years. The findings show that the safety regarding tipping over sideways is not satisfactory. Discussion of the results offers an expert analysis of the protection elements for the avoidance and reduction of forklift tip-over and its consequences.
