Abstract

Prof. N. Čubranić and his collaborates transfered heights from the continental part of Croatia on the Middle Dalmatian Islands in 1960 and 1961 years. So is transfered height over the sea on the island Hvar by the precise trigonometric levelling of the very high accuracy from the bench mark 103/569 near the Živogošće until the bench mark 70/574 near the Sućuraj. He reach inside accuracy of 3.5 mm/km. GPS-measurements near the bench mark in Drvenik and on the trigonometric point near beacon on the cape St. Ante in Sućuraj were connected with the Observatory Hvar in April 1994 year. So is derived control of transfer orthometric heights on the island Hvar by GPS-measurements and the program IHRG2000 for interpolation geoidal heights, which made Prof. T. Bašić on the Faculty of Geodesy in Zagreb. This solution by GPS-measurements and the program IHRG2000 is different from this solution with precise trigonometric levelling Prof. Čubranić's for +4.5 cm and from classical trigonometric method –3.5 cm. Today transfer of heights over sea on the islands by trigonometric levelling with high accuracy is yet more accurate than by GPS-measurements and geoidal heights.
