Abstract

While monitoring the mediterranean crop pests, as a part of the national reporting and early warning system, the presence of new quarantine pests from the A1 list of the quarantine pests - Rhagoletis cingulata Loew. (Diptera: TEPHRITIDAE) was confirmed. North-American cherry fruit fly – R. cingulata Loew. was confirmed by trapping adults in McPhail trap type with food attractant, in a mixed fruit orchard, at a location of Split. Since the R.cingulata is a pest attacking fruits of several Prunus types, among them sour cherry - P.cerasus, sweet cherry – P.avium and mahaleb cherry – P.mahaleb, there are serious possibilities for its domestication and spreading on the area of Dalmatia.
