Abstract

Trans-border communities represent the model of interaction between populations on the opposite sides of the borderline. This interaction and cohesiveness can be measured through the level of cooperation and special relations, which can be distinguished from those on state levels. The concepts of Euro-regions and trans-border regions are the examples of such cooperation. This cooperation is exemplified in special laws and regulations which are directed towards the individuals which make up such communities, in mutual projects and cooperation which can be created on the principles of free will (the preservation of specific dialect or customs in cultural terms), or can result from some emergency (projects for the preservation of mutual river
flows, the plans of action in crisis situations). Such cooperation is also very useful for the members of minority communities, which in most cases inhabit border areas. This article examines the levels, content and positive examples of the abovementioned interaction.
