Abstract

The paper investigates the application of trigonometric series in determination of geographic latitude in equidistant mapping along meridians of the rotational ellipsoid onto a sphere and vice versa. Instead of the application of sines of multiple angles it has been proposed to use the series in powers of double angle cosines.
