Abstract

The term Europeanization is related to the impact of the EU on its member states. As it is often the case with emerging concepts, the meaning of Europeanization is contested. Today there is still no unified theoretical definition of Europeanization. The term must be used as a framework for the analysis of how EU institutions and EU policies impact member states of the EU. Europeanization is a complex term, its crucial variables are difficult to separate and special attention must be paid not to describe Europeanization just as globalization or as changes at a national political level. It is essential for the analysis to understand the impacts of EU membership on institutions and policies of member states.
